The Secret Garden Process

In August 2009 the Moonfish company went to lovely Kinvara for two weeks.  We lived, ate, and worked together there to devise a production based on the classic book, The Secret Garden.  This period was planned as the first stage of a process, a stage when we could explore many different ideas and different methods of work.
We played games, wrote scenes, designed parades, composed music, worked from the book, put the book away, and from all that developed the ideas that form the basis of this show.

TSG-Jo-as-Mary_0.jpg In the second stage of the process, we met in Galway for a week in September and a week in October to develop the script further, organise set, costumes and other details, and to rehearse the show for the Galway Theatre Festival.

The show was presented to a sell-out audience as part of the Galway Theatre Festival on October 24th, and won hugely positive reactions from audiences when it ran at the Nun's Island Theatre, Galway in early January this year.

The next stage of the process will be to develop the show based on audience feedback, and to tour it in Ireland and beyond in Summer and Autumn 2010. For dates and venues please see above.
